CCA Invitational Exhibition: National Identity
Invitational Exhibition, National Identity: January 30 – February 24, 2019
Opening Reception: First Friday, Feb. 1, 6-8pm Artists illustrate their emotional and intellectual responses to their sense of a nation as a cohesive whole in Columbia Center for the Arts’ exhibition National Identity.
This invitational exhibition represents distinctive traditions, culture, and personal and social identity. How we define national identity is complex and often unsolidified. It can be both realist and subjective. Is it a pattern of behavior, a belief, or a way of doing things? Is it a common language, ancestry, or ethnicity?
Columbia Center for the Arts encourages viewers to explore the role of art in reforming collective ideas of national identity; and challenges individuals to create dialogue around their own sense of who we are as individuals, as a society, as a nation.
Please join us at National Identity’s opening reception on First Friday, February 1st from 6-8pm.
