Chinese New Year Supper Club
Chinese New Years is celebrated this year in February, but we're devoting our New Year's Eve dinner on December 30 and 31 to just this celebration, where the traditional long noodles will make an appearance to remind us of wishes for long life. There will be duck and shrimp and halibut cheeks, pork, oh so many vegetables, two handmade noodles, and of course, rice. Our Winery Partner for this dinner is ... a cidery! Runcible in Mosier, Oregon makes ciders from apples, yes, but pears, peaches, cherries, even quince, flavor their very dry ciders. Chef Kathy says the bubbles and the subtle flavors and arid fruit will go exceptionally well with the Chinese dishes at New Years. As always, you will have an option for a pairing -- this time, of six ciders -- or of a glass or bottle of cider, your choice. If you have little experience with ciders, this is an excellent time to try six fabulous ones, paired with food.
