SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting ~ Oh Joy of Joys / Big Art Installation
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a Ribbon Cutting\n\nCelebrating our first Big Art Northshore Installation ~ 'Oh Joy of Joys' a vibrant bronze statue created by Douglas Granum. \n\nAfter the success of Art of Community (AoC) and their community Big Art program in Hood River for the last ten years\, the board and staff of the Northshore Community Foundation (the 501c3 arm of Mt Adams Chamber of Commerce) are excited to bring AOC and Big Art to Bingen! The Art of Community vision is to Inspire engagement\, interaction and to help create a sense of place\, awareness\, optimism\, discussion\, and identity throughout the Gorge. CJ Rench\, who founded AoC\, is actively involved in each installation. CJ is a self-taught industrial engineer and designer. He creates large-scale abstract metal sculpture for both public and private collections. He works with Crestline Construction to do the installs and they are skilled at the process.\n\n\n\nPublic art creates and enhances neighborhood and community identity. It enhances the visual landscape and character of the city. It turns ordinary spaces into community landmarks and promotes community dialogue and\, most importantly\, it is accessible to everyone.\n\n\n\nWe are excited to have Bingen's inaugural sculpture exhibits include former Bingen city council member and community member Guillermo Fisch in the life sized Oh Joy of Joys bronze sculpture by the renowned artist Douglas Granum. Originally unveiled in 2019\, the 'Oh Joy of Joys' statue has been waiting to be installed in a favorable location in downtown Bingen. Kip and I are SO glad to finally be at this point. Please join us in celebrating!! *This day is the Bingen Birthday Bash with fun events happening from 10 am to 7 pm.
